The Moon, Her Majesty.

Steve Allen on the piano here brings an entire new ambience to this Jack Kerouac peice. It always amazes me how music can enhance other artistic experiences.

Kerouac’s style is so staunch here. If you’re what I’m looking for? Great. If not? The sun still rises.

In some cases, the moon is you. In any case, the moon.

I am a HUGE Tom Waits fan and one of my favorite recordings by him is “Home I’ll Never Be”, which is from Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road”. This is the link:

Waits also recorded another version with Primus that was actually titled “On The Road”. The lyrics are identical but needless to say since Primus was involved it has a very unique (and very awesome) sound to it as well. I was unable to find it on YouTube, but both tracks can be found on his “Brawlers, Bawlers, and Bastards” album on the Bastards disc (disc 3).

Nice share. I’ll confess that I never paid much attention to Tom Waits until recently, but I like what I hear so far.
